Our November meeting was held on Wednesday 4th November 2015 in the school hall of Lower Peover School. Our AGM was held, where the standing committee and officers all agreed to stay in place for another year. The financial statement was presented and agreed.Following the more serious part of the meeting, Olivia Norbury demonstrated how to construct a timely Christmas wreath and table top decoration. Olivia used all natural materials. If anyone would like a traditional Christmas tree from Chelford, Olivia and her family will have an excellent selection. Following Olivia’s motivating demonstration several members are planning to make their own seasonal wreaths within the next month.
We planned our Christmas events, including afternoon tea for the Book Club and an evening meal for the group. The darts team invited any members to join them, to practice and to have fun. We also discussed meeting the WI challenge, gathering together personal information of ‘A moment in time’. This will form part of a larger display in Chester, next year. We even organised our quiz team for the February group quiz event.
We held a minute’s silence for our friend and fellow member, Norma Leech, who has recently died. Norma has been an important part of our WI, being a member for over 60 years; she has held all offices at some time and has been on our committee. She will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go to her family.
Anyone who would like to join our group, for one meeting or to join us more regularly is very welcome. We meet on the first Wednesday of each month in the school hall in Lower Peover. It would be a great way to start the New Year, to make new friends and maybe meet old friends.
