Lower Peover WI April 2017

May 10th, 2017 | Posted by Liz McGrath in WI News

Lower Peover WI continues to meet on the first Wednesday evening of each month in the school hall of Lower Peover School. Our meetings start at 730. All visitors are welcome to join us.

Our last meeting was held on Wednesday April 5th when Brian Green returned to give a particularly interesting and illuminating talk on ‘The Music of Disney’.

Music was key to the Disney Brother Studios‘ success. In 1928, Walt Disney produced the third animated Mickey Mouse short, Steamboat Willie, which had a soundtrack while previous efforts were silent films. During the next 90 years music has remained key to the success of Disney productions, in cartoons, television, films and nature documentaries.

We listened and enjoyed examples of Disney music, being transported to the time and era we first heard the music, from Mickey Mouse to Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and onto Mary Poppins and we discussed modern examples of Disney music, its values and ethos as well as its use in engaging the listener.

Within Lower Peover WI we have a thriving book club; we enjoy local and county wide walks, visits and participate in local and county wide WI activities.

Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday 3rd May. We would love to see you.
