In July, Lower Peover is celebrating 750 years since St Oswald’s church was founded with a four day ‘Celebration with Flowers’.
Throughout the festival, the church will be decorated by Knutsford Floral Design Club, who will be creating magnificent flower arrangements depicting significant dates in the history of the church.
On Friday, 5th July 2019 at 7.30pm, a concert will be held inside St Oswald’s Church. Entertainment will be provided by soprano, Linda Richardson. Linda was born in Cheshire and studied at the Royal Northern College of Music. She completed her studies at the National Opera Studio. Warrington Male Voice Choir, one of England’s oldest choirs, will be singing a selection of songs at the concert.
Fifty years ago, when Lower Peover celebrated 700 years since St Oswald’s Church was founded, a 7th centenary pageant about the history of the church and the village, known as the Peover Saga, was held in the grounds. Many local people will still remember watching and being involved with the pageant. A film of the Peover Saga will be projected on screen during the events.
On Saturday 6th July, St Oswald’s Church will be holding the annual church fete at 12pm.
On the morning of Sunday 7th July there will be a special service at St Oswald’s Church, where there will be a notable speaker.
Fundraising events for a ‘Celebration with Flowers’ are also taking place in advance of the main events:-
